JoomSlot, the slot-games kit for Joomla, taken apart
JoomSlot was a free Joomla 3 component that put a lobby of slot games on your own website. The games ran on a remote game server, members bought credit in Bitcoin, and the site owner paid out winnings by hand. The downloads, API keys and game server are gone. The manual is kept here, rewritten so it still makes sense.
- What it was. A component, a jackpot module and a Bitcoin payment plugin, offered in 2021 as a free way to run slot games inside Joomla 3.
- What the guides cover. Installing it, the one-file Kickstart package, the admin screens, the player pages, buying credit, withdrawals and the agent scheme.
- What still works. Nothing you can download or connect to. Read every page as a record of version 1.0, not as a setup you can follow today.
Where things stand
The old site still offered downloads and sign-up forms long after the service behind them had stopped. This is the honest version.

How money moved through a JoomSlot site
- A game ID is madeGuests got a temporary ID with demo points the moment they opened the lobby. Members got a proper ID linked to their Joomla account.
- Credit is boughtMembers paid in Bitcoin through a BTCPay store. At the default rate 1 BTC bought 100,000 credits, added once the payment confirmed.
- The games are playedEvery spin ran on the remote game server. The Joomla site only kept the balance, the bets and the wins in its stats tables.
- Winnings are paid outA member asked for a withdrawal to a Bitcoin address. The site owner checked it and sent the coins by hand from the store wallet.
The last step is the weak point of any site like this: players depend on one site owner choosing to pay. Taking real-money bets without a gaming licence is also illegal in Malaysia and most other countries.
Setting it up
All guides- Setup guide Download (closed) The JoomSlot component was a login-only download that did nothing without an API key from joomslot.com. Both are gone now.
-
Setup guide Installing the component Three steps in the old manual: upload the package, request an API key, paste the key and game server URL into Options. Kept as an archive; the keys no longer exist. -
Setup guide Kickstart setup The all-in-one JoomSlot package was a Joomla 3.10.01 site in an Akeeba archive. Here's how it went onto a VPS in 2021, and what to watch if you restore any Kickstart archive now.
Running the site
All guides-
Admin guide Backend screens Seven menu items under Components > JoomSlot, and one uncomfortable fact: every withdrawal was paid by the webmaster, by hand. -
Admin guide BTCPay payment plugin Three values in a Joomla plugin (Store ID, API key, IPN secret) tied JoomSlot to a BTCPay store. How they were set up, and why the hot wallet was the weak point. - Agent scheme Agent scheme (closed) Webmasters could buy JoomSlot game credit in bulk at a discount and resell it to their own players. The scheme is closed; this is what it offered and what the terms said.
The player side
All guides-
Player guide Frontend for players A JoomSlot site gave guests 1000 demo points and a game ID on arrival, and members a menu of eight pages for buying, withdrawing and checking history. -
Player guide Buying game credit Ten game points cost 0.0001 BTC at the 2021 default rate. The purchase went through a BTCPay invoice, and the points landed once the payment was confirmed. -
Player guide Withdrawals A JoomSlot withdrawal was a request, not a payment. The webmaster checked it and paid it by hand in BTCPay, and nothing in the software made them do it.
The products
Products-
Product JoomSlot component JoomSlot put a lobby of slot games on your own Joomla 3 site, with guest demo points and Bitcoin credit sales. The product is retired; this is the archive of how it worked. -
